Das Blog begleitet Forschungsarbeiten zu europäischen China-Bildern und zur Rezeption Chinas in Europa/im Westen quer durch die Zeit. Schwerpunkte sind Texte/Bilder aus der Zeit vor 1700 und nach 1869. ‘Mind the gap(s)‘ umfasst einige laufende Projekte, u.a.:

‘Mind the gap(s)’ meint ‘gaps’ zwischen Europa und China/China und Europa, zwischen Einst und Jetzt und zwischen Digitalem und Analogem.

The blog accompanies research on European/Western images of China and on the European/Western reception of things Chinese through time and space. A special focus is put on texts/images published before 1700 and after 1869. The blog provides a space for some ongoing projects, among them:

• Europe and China up to 1700
• Western Books on China, 1477-1949 (see also: Bibliotheca Sinica 2.0)
• China in satirical periodicals (1894-1917)
• images of China in graphic novels/comics and caricatures.

‘Mind the gap(s)’ refers to ‘gaps’ between Europa and China/China and Europe, between ‘then’ and ‘now’, and between analog(ue) and digital.
